With her moody blend of grunge and hip-hop, the shy Los Angeles singer-songwriter Deb Never gets honest. Somone Else is just a beautiful song. I can see her preforming this at the Bootleg in East L.A. The perfect sound for a perfect venue.

Song of the Week – The Weather Station – Parking Lot – Episode 129
The Weather Station are very 1980’s but not in the way you might think. They are rather jazzy and poppy and serious and precise and all about very very solid song writing. Pitchfork just slapped a solid 9 on their new record. They are destined for stardom.
Song of the Week – Altin Gün -Yüce Dağ Başında- Episode 128
Altin Gün is a wird one. Singing in türkis – being from the Netherlands but probably the most successful in the US. Yüce Dağ Başında is an example of the beautiful psych pop of Altin Gün.

Fruit Bats are very retro indeed. And maybe that’s why I like them so much. Can’t wait for their record The Pet Parade. If it’s anything like Holy Rose this is an immediate contender for record of the year.

The singer from Tennessee has this special something about her. Julien Baker teamed up with Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridgers last year. 2021 she is back with her own stuff and I appreciate that very much. Hardline is an amazing track.

Yes, this is the band that covered Britney Spear’s *Baby One More Time” a few years ago and yes, this band band write songs. Bop it Up! is a hypnotic tale of desire (just guessing) – Not ground breaking but pretty pretty damn good – The Marias
