Pulp is one of the greatest bands ever and front man Jarvis Cocker without a doubt one of the coolest chaps that ever walked and will walk the earth. So no surprise thatPulp: a Film about Life, Death & Supermarkets is not just a regular documentary but a master piece. Watch the trailer:
For those who never heard of Pulp…here is a reminder. Not Common People but Babies:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38by00DGid0
Mark Ronson’s gearing up to release a new album called Uptown Special in 2015. All indications are that this could be one to watch.
Listening to Daffodils featuring Kevin Parker will tell you why. Monsoon goes psychedelic. For those of you not in the loop, Kevin Parker happens to be the lead singer of Tame Impala. So, if you think you recognize this sound you’re probably not alone.
Devoted Trendengel readers know all about Charli XCX. Charli XCX wanted to release her new record for a while but the huge success of Boom Clap changed this plan. Now the second Track of her new Album Sucker (landing in January) is out and it’s called Gold Coins. Solid tack but TrendEngel wants to hear even more. Judge for yourself:

They are touring like crazy just having done their 300th show and it is all about to pay off. Ball Park Music are five mates from Down Under and are pretty great – to say the least. Their Album Puddinghead and especially their song trip pin the light fantastic are proof that POP is not dead whatsoever. Next march they will perform at SXSW in Austin – you know what that means.
and this from everyones favorite Radio Station Triple-J:
These days the music world is gathered in New York for the CMJ Music Festival. One of the bands to watch is Lily and The Parlour Tricks. The song Requiem is very cool and def. an indication of more good things to come…many many more. The New York City Sextett is the perfect combo of pretty and gritty
OK. This is a study by a guy from Cal Tech – pitting the SAT scores of some college kids against their taste in music. The result. We know what music very intelligent people listen to. There are some surprises. Rather stupid people listen to Jazz, Beyonce, Lil Wayn, Gospel or Soca. Smart People like Beethoven, Counting Crows, Ben Folds, Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead and (a little surprising) U2. On thing TrendEngel can not really understand: Why isn’t Nickelback in the middle instead of dead last? Why?
When TrendEngel had the chance to see Gengahr perform recently by pure stroke of luck the expectations were low. What a mistake. Great live band from the US with its first double A-side: Powder / Bathed in Light. Watch this space. There is more to come. Listen to this:
David Bowie ist immer im Trend und darf alles – sogar einen Jazz-angehauchten Song aufnehmen. David is allowed to do anything he wants – even when it’s rather strange. Listen to his song Sue (or a season of crime):

They like surfing, have some kind of down under vibe, they do not reinvent the wheel and they are straight rock n roll – but damn can they write good rock songs: Sunset Sons are great. The song “Remember” is – dare I say it: something to remember. The song makes you tap your feet and ultimately dance. Straight and simple song writing from 3 brits and an Aussie. They are based in Hossegor in France – one of the best surf spots in Europe and don’t really care too much about a music career – but this might be their ticket to paradise. Catch the waves while you still can:
Avi Buffalo bemühen sich schon seit dingen Jahren, den Durchbruch zu schaffen. Zumindet was die Kritiker und auch TrendEngel betrifft, ist der Band aus Long Beach, Kalifornien das mit ihrem neuen Album At Best Cuckold gelungen. Sie erinnern an Granddaddy und rocken mit massen aber genau richtig. Hier eine Kostprobe:
