Rochelle Canteen – Paradise in London
Converted from the old school bike shed in the coolest area of London – east of Shoreditch High Street, Rochelle Canteen looks out onto the grassy playground and the trees of Arnold Circus beyond. Whenever it’s warm enough tables are set outside the canteen for a peaceful sit in the sun. Possibly the most beautiful spot in London and definetely some of the best food anywhere. This is a canteen for the creatives working here, and those lucky outsiders in the know. Once you’re one of them, you’ll find a short but enticing menu that, on our visit, included a pea soup with bantam egg and mint; grilled quails and green sauce; rabbit rillettes; and a pork chop with mustard and chard. The latter was perfect – the meat slightly charred on the outside, with a hint of pink in the middle and, best of all, a broad ribbon of melting fat and crispy skin running along one side. A colourful platter of herb gnocchi with courgettes and peppers tasted as lovely as it looked, and a dessert of chocolate pots was to die for, in just the way an indulgent, luscious chocolate dessert should be. This food ad the two owners Melanie Arnold and Margot Henderson’s will make you happy.

The Brink – Jack Black and Tim Robbins for HBO
Holy shit, that looks fun. As Robbins says, “Congratulations, this plan is off to a great start.” You figured that out, right? Jack Black is out in the powderkeg called Pakistan to prevent World War III. In the mix are the Secretary oTheBrink_Titlecardf State and an ace fighter pilot. Tim Robbins is the D. C. official; Pablo Schreiber is the Navy flyboy and Aasif Mandvi is Black’s liaison. Sure, that’s a perfect setup for comedy. At least this clip makes it look that way.

Studio Ilse for Ikea – This is Perfection
Furniture giant Ikea has collaborated with London designer Ilse Crawford to launch a range of cork and natural-fibre homeware products. Unveiled during an event at Crawford’s Ett Hem hotel in Stockholm yesterday, the Sinnerlig collection heavily features natural materials and neutral colours that were chosen to fit into any home.
The first collaboration between Ikea and Studioilse contains a range of around 30 products – from larger furniture pieces such as cork-covered tables and a daybed down to hand-blown glass bottles. The daybed might be TrendEngel’s favorite. Crawford says: “Cork is very much a part of our range, because of its acoustic properties and it works great with glass.”
This will be in stores in August. Pls. mark your calendar as this is to good not to get.
