12 in 12 – Bildung oder eine Demonstration der Stärke

IMG_8942

Fjällräven Kanken – All Made Out Of Water Bottles

3062738-inline-i-1-this-classic-swedish-backpack-now-comes-in-a-version-made-from-recycled-water-bottlesThe classic Swedish “Kånken” backpack hasn’t changed very much since it was first designed for schoolchildren in 1978, with one new exception: Now it comes in a version made from recycled plastic water bottles.
They decided to make the entire bag—including the lining and shoulder straps—from recycled plastic. One of the backpacks, called the Re-Kånken, uses 11 former plastic bottles; a mini version uses nine bottles.
3062738-poster-p-1-this-classic-swedish-backpack-now-comes-in-a-version-made-from-recycled-water-bottlesWhen the bag wears out, because all of the parts are made from the same material, it can be returned to a retail store and recycled into new fabric. Fjällräven is also hoping that cities will also start recycling synthetic fabrics, so people can eventually just drop an old bag in a local recycling bin.

Vans Goes California – A Perfect Combination

Created in time for the US Open of Surfing, which the skateboard and surf-inspired retail giant appropriately sponsors, the collection has five new shoe designs. There is one slip-on shoe, one ‘Old Skool’ style, a ‘Sk8-Hi’ model and two ‘Authentics.’ Each of these shoes are adorned with either the classic black and white checkers that are one of Vans’ signature designs, or images of California palm trees against a multi-hued backdrop that is presumably a sunset. Er like the new collection of the legendary brand Vans.images-3

Love Letter To Singapore – Time Lapse by Keith Loutit

majulahThe Lion City II – Majulah is a photographic love letter to Singapore; actually, love novel might be more appropriate. A time-lapse overflowing with creative camera work brought together with brilliant editing, it’s not an understatement to say photographer Keith Loutit just raised the timelapse bar. Several years in the making – it was all worth it. TrendEngel is not a major fan of Singapore as a City – but this is certainly very beautiful. This is what Keith says:
When we pass by landscapes they appear fixed in time, but they change around us constantly. The idea behind this film is to reveal this change by returning to the same camera positions over the years.

Sirin Labs – The 14000 $ Smartphone Called Solarin

Side-Fire-Black-Carbon-DLC-930x615 SOLARIN-Flat-Front-with-UI-and-Notification.0Privacy on your phone is pivotal for many. Siri Labs has just launched a smartphone for the bargain price of 14000 $.

Sirin Labs was founded in 2013 by Kazakh entrepreneur Kenges Rakishev, Israeli venture capitalist Moshe Hogeg (the same guy behind Yo and Mobli), and former McKinsey consultant Tal Cohen. The mission? To create the Rolls-Royce of smartphones — an advanced device that combined “the highest privacy settings, operated faster than any other phone, [and was] built with the best materials from around the world.” The company had raised a $25 million “seed” round a couple of years back, followed by a chunky $72 million round just last month.

Solarin promises “the most advanced privacy technology, currently unavailable outside the agency world,” and has partnered with KoolSpan to integrate chip-to-chip 256-bit AES encryption, similar to what the military uses to protect communications. It’s activated via a physical security switch on the back of the phone.

Solarin also sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, comes with support for 24 bands of LTE, and promises “far superior” Wi-Fi connectivity than standard mobile phones. It also has a 23.8-megapixel rear camera and a 5.5” IPS LED 2K resolution screen.

TrendEngel thinks that this is one step too far and unless your name is Trump or Obama this is just money down the drain.

moment_2-1200x0Seattle startup Moment is about to take its high-end smartphone photography lenses to the next level. Moment-Lenses-for-Smartphones-alternate-imageRight now, the company offers three individual lenses – Wide, Tele, and Macro – each of which attach to a “DSLR-like” case that turns your iPhone into a far more versatile camera setup.

A la carte, Moment’s lenses sell for $100 a piece, while the three case options range between $50–$70.
