One of the most talented, influential, and iconoclastic filmmakers of all time, Brian De Palma’s career started in the 60s and has included such acclaimed and diverse films as Carrie, Dressed to Kill, Blow Out, Scarface, The Untouchables, Carlito’s Way, and Mission: Impossible. In this lively, illuminating and unexpectedly moving documentary, directors Noah Baumbach and Jake Paltrow engage in a personal and candid discussion with De Palma, exploring not only his life and work but also his singular approach to the craft of filmmaking and his remarkable experiences navigating the film business, from his early days as the bad boy of New Hollywood to his more recent years as a respected veteran of the field.

Love Letter To Singapore – Time Lapse by Keith Loutit
The Lion City II – Majulah is a photographic love letter to Singapore; actually, love novel might be more appropriate. A time-lapse overflowing with creative camera work brought together with brilliant editing, it’s not an understatement to say photographer Keith Loutit just raised the timelapse bar. Several years in the making – it was all worth it. TrendEngel is not a major fan of Singapore as a City – but this is certainly very beautiful. This is what Keith says:
When we pass by landscapes they appear fixed in time, but they change around us constantly. The idea behind this film is to reveal this change by returning to the same camera positions over the years.

U.S. Girls – Meg Remy mixes David Lynch and Madonna
You’re tempted to call U.S. Girls Lynchian, but [her songs] are singular and personal enough to warrant their own adjective. Musically, Meg Remy has been described as “an avant-pop deconstructionist”, “a basement R&B diva” or “a cheerleader on quaaludes”. She has, to date, employed a combination of reel-to-reel players, tape decks and samplers to record, and release bleary-eyed late-night music for driving down haunted highways on a number of labels such as Siltbreeze, Kraak, FatCat and her own Calico Corp imprint. Even at its most lo-fi, the largely four-track recordings evince a keen pop ear, even if this is pop from a series of distant eras. In terms of playfulness, texture, adventure and attention to detail, she has been compared to Eno. Seeing her in Barcelona at the Primavera Festival you can feel that she is about to go big. She commands the stage and has a fixating presence. Well. done. More please. Her latest song from her 4AD debut album Half Free is New Age Killer:
Deli Bo in Nice – An New Standard for Patisserie and Lunches
If you ever thought the south of France is nice but can’t compete with Paris – think again. Deli Bo is a new venture by the famous patsies Nicois that makes other bistros and cafes blush. The crowd is beautiful but friently, the dishes simple and perfect and the prices are reasonable – very reasonable in fact. The patisserie (try the millefeuille) is the star but the rest doesn’t have to hide. An afternoon at Deli Bo is a pleasure. Forget Paris…
Food Trend: Bio-Fermented Coconut Soft Serve: Coco Whip
From Australia to the rest of the world. The world’s first Vegan & Bio-Fermented Coconut Soft Serve courtesy of Australian company CocoWhip. A soft-serve frozen treat and the first of its kind: by using only Coconut Water, Organic Bio-Fermented Coconut Powder & Vegetable Sourced stabilisers, CocoWhip is a vegan, gluten and dairy-free dessert packed with a far superior nutritional value to any other frozen dessert on the market including Acai Bowls & Frozen Yoghurt Desserts.
In a “Coco-nut-shell” it’s made of coconut water for complete hydration, Biofermented Probiotics for gut & intestinal health, & highly nutritious superfoods. This sounds very healthy and it probably is. But one thing is probably more important: It’s so delicious and will probably sweep the globe in a few…..years.
Alexandra Savior – Alex Turner’s New Muse
The music industry is on high alert. This could be the next Lana Del Rey. Alexandra Savior is the new muse of Arctic Monkey‘s Alex Turner and a great song writer in her own right. She hasn’t release a single song and all you get is a demo version of this 2015 recording. Bur believe me – She is about to break big. Alexandra Savior is her name and she is from LA. Risk wasn’t just a one-off. Last week Alex and Alexandra took their project overground, with Turner joining Savior and her band (made up of LA stalwarts Papa) onstage at a tiny, 100-capacity sit-down venue in Hollywood called The Hotel Café. There’s also an album, reportedly called ‘Strange Portrait’, in the works

Burger Brothers – Is This The World’s Best Burger?
Trip Advisor calls Burger Brothers in Brighton the Best Burger in the UK. People in Burger Forums (Yes, there is such a thing) call it the best on the planet. So Trendengel had to know. Do we believe the hype? We sure do. The ‘Classic Beef’ which comes with rocket leaves, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, mustard, relish, black pepper mayo and caramelised onions was to die for.
The bun was without a doubt the best ever, the beef is locally sourced, the interplay of the ingredients is just perfect and the flavors are magical. We never had a burger that good. Period. End of story. Make the trip to Morth road in Brighton. It’s soon worth it. Promis.
Sirin Labs – The 14000 $ Smartphone Called Solarin
Privacy on your phone is pivotal for many. Siri Labs has just launched a smartphone for the bargain price of 14000 $.
Sirin Labs was founded in 2013 by Kazakh entrepreneur Kenges Rakishev, Israeli venture capitalist Moshe Hogeg (the same guy behind Yo and Mobli), and former McKinsey consultant Tal Cohen. The mission? To create the Rolls-Royce of smartphones — an advanced device that combined “the highest privacy settings, operated faster than any other phone, [and was] built with the best materials from around the world.” The company had raised a $25 million “seed” round a couple of years back, followed by a chunky $72 million round just last month.
Solarin promises “the most advanced privacy technology, currently unavailable outside the agency world,” and has partnered with KoolSpan to integrate chip-to-chip 256-bit AES encryption, similar to what the military uses to protect communications. It’s activated via a physical security switch on the back of the phone.
Solarin also sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, comes with support for 24 bands of LTE, and promises “far superior” Wi-Fi connectivity than standard mobile phones. It also has a 23.8-megapixel rear camera and a 5.5” IPS LED 2K resolution screen.
TrendEngel thinks that this is one step too far and unless your name is Trump or Obama this is just money down the drain.
