This is a very cool movie. Wolfpack – a documentary that couldn’t be made up. Locked away from society in an apartment on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Angulo brothers learn about the outside world through the films that they watch. Nicknamed the Wolfpack, the brothers spend their childhood re-enacting their favorite films using elaborate homemade props and costumes. With no friends and living on welfare, they feed their curiosity, creativity, and imagination with film, which allows them to escape from their feelings of isolation and loneliness. Everything changes when one of the brothers escapes, and the power dynamics in the house are transformed. The Wolfpack must learn how to integrate into society without disbanding the brotherhood. Brilliant cinema.

Izzy Bizu – A New Amy Winehouse
Izzy Bizu is a 20 year-old singer songwriter from South West London.
Growing up immersed in the music of Ella Fitzgerald and James Brown, Izzy draws on these influences alongside modern-day icons Amy Winehouse and Adele to create a fusion of soul, funk, jazz and pop that manages to create an exclusive quality of sounding classic and brand spanking new all at once. Comparisons to Amy Winehouse are unavoidable – but of course a bit unfair. No doubt Izzy will make it big.
Arcade Fire – The Reflektor Tapes
Arcade Fire are one of the greatest bands of all time – Reflektor is one of the most important records of all time. Here is the movie: Reflektor Tapes:
Nils Frahm Plays John Cage’s 4:33 and the Web Goes Mental
Nils Frahm is one of the most creative and talented pianists of our time – No doubt about it. but when he posted his version of John Cage‘s 4:33 a few days ago the internet went berserk with critique.
“this is the most ridiculous insult to John Cage I have ever seen.” one guy says.
Another comment:I read people saying “this is an insult to john cage” etc. I think you all are an insult to him saying that… this is the good thing of covers, not repeating the same identical “song”, but giving to it the impression you feel.
Fram himself says:”This rework could be considered a joke. I sat at the piano in silence and worked from there. I listened and took in the atmosphere and this is what came out of it. Of course, it doesn’t do Cage justice, but it was more fun playing rather than sitting in silence.” – Nils Frahm

Spotlight – A Favorite For Toronto
Spotlight has already received some positive notices but this isn’t just drafting behind them. I have been a fan of Tom McCarthy’s films such as The Visitor and The Station Agent because he’s a director who can elicit the best performances from his previously underutilized actors including Richard Jenkins, Peter Dinklage and Bobby Cannavale. This is one of the brightest prospects of the Toronto Film Festival.
Missoni mets Converse – Good Stuff
Chuck’s are Chucks and shouldn’t be tampered with. Mostly at least. One exception: The collaboration with Missoni. Converse you did well.
The Arcs – Dan Auerbach – A Masterclass
Dan Auerbach‘s new band The Arcs is a labor of love between old compadres. The Black Keys frontman shows us how retro rock can be played without sounding dated. Slower but more effective than the Black Keys. The album is excellent: Yours, Dreamily is magic.
