New York rock searchers Yeasayer haven’t released a new album since 2012’s Fragrant World, but they have now broken their silence. Last month, the band started posting mysterious teasers for what sure seems to be a new album, possibly titled Amen & Goodbye. And now, a new single called “I Am Chemistry” has appeared. The song is a churning groove that packs a whole lot into its five minutes: A percussive rhythmic base, a proggy synth excursion, and what sounds like a children’s choir singing over a florid piano. Listen to the song below. The album will be out in April.

TrendEngel Awards 2015 – Travel Destination
This is a new discovery that is pretty much underrated for no reason. Sao Paolo is our destination of 2015. Amazing Food, great weather, no tourists, low prices, top shopping, friendly people and interesting – soon interesting. Check it out and book a week on the beach afterwards to recover from all the silliness. Possibly the biggest city in the world.

TrendEngel Awards 2015 – Best TV Show
The Jinx is the documentary of all documentaries that made the world talk and started the trend of blockbuster documentaries. Filmmaker Andrew Jarecki examines the complicated life of reclusive real estate scion, Robert Durst, the key suspect in a series of unsolved crimes. TrendEngel doesn’t want to give away much more as this would spoil all the fun – but we can make one promise. You will not forget Robert Durst. Thanks HBO for another great documentary.
Here you can watch the whole first episode:

This is without a doubt the best play in German TrendEngel has seen in years and he play of the year. Adapted from the movie Autumn Sonata (Herbstsonate) by Swedish master Ingmar Bergmann this is captivating theater from the get go. Deutsches Theater in Berlin is the gold standard in German theatre. Both Eva and Charlotte – who has consistently neglected her family for the sake of her career – hope for a reconciliation.
TrendEngel Award 2015 – Best Product
A smart–and scarily predictive–wireless speaker: Wi-Fi- and Bluetooth-enabled, Cone is voice activated and connects directly to cloud-based music services and radio stations. The speaker, which goes for around 400 Euro, plays music and other programs, such as podcasts, on the basis of your likes–but it also learns your dislikes, as if it were your own personal DJ. If you tend to skip Irish folk music, for instance, it’ll stop suggesting the genre. Similarly, it’ll learn to automatically play smooth jazz on Friday evenings if that’s your thing. The embarrassing thing: TrendEngel discovered the product too late and you know what. The Cone is no more – it is gone and it’s too late. Sad sad sad…
TrendEngel Award 2015 – Best Restaurant
If you want cool, comfortable and delicious – Industry Standard in Berlin (Neukölln of course) is hard to beat. The cooks are from Canada and Mexico, the menu is always changing and the tartare and the chicory with stilton to die for.
