Portland-based musician Katherine Paul is Native American, queer and amazing. The perfect cocktail to rock! Black Belt Eagle Scout are on top of my 2019 list so far:
Song the Week – Long Tall Jefferson – Stay a Little Longer – Episode 49
This guy is Long Tall Jefferson or LTJ and he is from Switzerland – no kidding. He might not be your cup of tea but I think he is extraordinarily talented and should be a star.
Song of the Week – Gently Tender – Some Hard Advice – Episode 48
Gently Tender has this rare quality of writing great pop tunes with a band feeling and good craftsmanship. What a band.
Song of the Week – Du Blonde – Angel – Episode 47
This is Du Blonde aka Beth Jeans Houghton. The song isn’t eventuate special but her voice is unique and I think there is much more to come.
Song of the Week – Daniel Norgen – The Flow – Episode 46
He is from Sweden and his name is Daniel Norgen. His music is beyond beautiful. It’s magical and mystical and just very very special. Thank you for bringing this gift to us Daniel.
Song of the Week – Fehm – The Sea To Come – Episode 45
Fehm are a throwback to the 1980’s. In a time when The Cure was everything and The Essence meant a lot Fehm would have felt right at home. I’m glad they are around in 2019. Painful and beautiful. That’s happiness in a tune.
Song of the Week – The Howl & The Hum – Murder – Episode 44
These boys from York are a breed of Waterboys meets Mumford & Sons I guess. Sure – mainstream you might say but The Howl & The Hum are the good kind of mainstream.
Song of the Week – JEFFE – Undecided – Episode 44
She is from Sydney and her rhythm has some magic sprinkles of genius to it. Pop, yes – but with lots of potential. Lorde comes to mind – and that’s a good thing.
Song of the Week – Episode 42 – Alexandra Streliski – Plus Tot
Alexandra Streliski is Canadian and is an untypical pop star. She plays the piano and crates these dream like landscapes you want to explore deeper and longer. Thank you Alexandra.
Song of the Week – Krush Puppies – Petal Head – Episode 41
Krush Puppies – what sounds like a pretty cool thing is more a play on words and above all a band with some great tunes. Petal Head is possibly the best one yet by these amazing girls fromm good old England.
