Novesta x Universal Works Star Master Navy are the summer shoes you need.
Hand made in Slovakia, they use only natural materials processed by the same machinery used in 1939.
Universal Works brings strong colorways for a casual and eco friendly shoe. This beautiful shoe is giving Converse and Vans a run for its money. Not as adolescent and more grown up – overall more beautiful.

Design Studio – We Love Eames Is so Creative
Emilia Lucht and Arne Sebrantke are the German design studio We Love Eames. They wanted to create a lamp that would allow greenery to grow in windowless spaces. The lights are a completely self-sustaining ecosystem, where they claim the plants can grow undisturbed for years.
It’s a revolutionary lighting solution not just because the luminaire is a completely self-sustaining ecosystem where the plants can grow-undisturbed, but also because of its one-of-a-kind electrically conductive glass coating. It actually streams the electricity invisibly along the surface, so there’s no need for a cable connection between the power source and the LED. Bring even windowless spaces to life with a plantlight!

Manifesto By Julian Rosefeldt – With a Little Help By Cate Blanchett
Julian Rosefeldt’s new thirteen-channel work Manifesto questions the role of the artist in society today. Australian actor, Cate Blanchett, performs the manifestos as a series of striking monologues.
The installation in the amazing Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin – a part of the Nationalgalerie – draws on the writings of Futurists, Dadaists, Fluxus artists, Situtationists and Dogma 95, and the musings of individual artists, architects, dancers and filmmakers. Passing the philosophies of Claes Oldenburg, Yvonne Rainer, Kazimir Malevich, André Breton, Elaine Sturtevant, Sol LeWitt, Jim Jarmusch, and other influencers through his lens, Rosefeldt has edited and reassembled a collage of artists’ manifestos. This is probably the most powerful exhibition TrendEngel has seen in years. Mind-blowing and life altering. Honestly.
Japanese Green Tea Is the New Coffee
More and more people are switching to Japanese green tea and are giving coffee a miss. The trendiest one is matcha. Matcha is the powdered Japanese green tea used in the famous Japanese tea ceremony. It has a very ancient history since it was brought from China by the Zen monk Eisai. Matcha is obtained by stone-grinding a tea called tencha to produce a powder. Matcha Latte anyone?
In the cool neighborhoods of Berlin and London you can see green tea shops opening up left and right. One we really like is Mamecha in Berlin Mitte. Check it out.
Papier Tigre – Very French Paper
3 guys from Paris created Papier Tigre – a very different brand that takes old school craftsmanship and takes it to another level. Beautiful paper products that will make you happy. We really like what the guys do. One store in Paris and now one in London. You will see Papier Tigre all over the place in a few months or years – and hands down one of the coolest logos around.
Vetements – THE Brand For Years to Come
The label Vetements is the most radical thing to come out of Paris in over a decade. This is a bunch of crazy dudes. Demna Gvasalia is the head of a collective of 18 young fashion designers. The average age is early to mid-twenties. They speak roughly 13 languages between them – truly international. The brand was launched from Gvasalia’s Paris bedroom, the product of weekends and nights spent designing for the love of it. The antidote of Paris fashion. Almost rebellious – almost. Stores such as Dover Street Market in London carry the pieces. Most of the items are interchangeable for men and women. Anything goes. Gvasalia is now artistic director for Balenciaga. This is a bit of a surprise and worried some fans of Vetements. But don’t worry – Vetements will be stronger than ever and THE brand for years to come.
